SLOTH

The sloth is a very slow-moving animal! They are grayish-brown, but sometimes look green because algae grows on them! This helps them blend in with the tree. They have short, flat heads with large eyes and small snouts. They are about the size of a small dog. Their claws are very strong and hold them up in trees. They can either have two or three toes on each foot.

Sloths live in the rainforests of South America. They live in the canopy, which is the section of the rainforest that looks like brocolli. This section is covered in tree tops. Sloths spend most of their time hanging upside down in trees. They eat, sleep, and give birth upside down! They sleep around 16 hours at a time. They curl up in a ball to sleep. They sleep throughout the day, and are awake at night. They eat small insects, but usually feed on plants. Sloths are endangered because their homes are beign destroyed.
